After my journey through a second pregnancy in my late 30s, I was convinced that I would not be able to feel good about my body ever again. I had decided that many "unlucky" women such as myself were destined to gain almost half their body weight with each pregnancy, and then accept their new body as some kind of sacrifice or hazing into motherhood. Then I met Shirley Taylor.
Shirley has three children of her own and is the most toned and fit individual that I have met. She inspired me to take on this challenge of my "new body" with a determination and zest that I had not experienced with prior exercise regimens (of which I had participated in many). We dove into training with TRX and I can honestly say it has changed the way I view my body, the process of aging and my self-confidence. TRX is a fantastic exercise of weight resistance which, in the hands of an actual TRX certified trainer such as Shirley, can transform an individual's physical fitness.
Three years later, I am happy to say that I feel better about my body than I ever have. Although she has equipped me to do TRX sessions on my own, I continue to work with Shirley regularly as she continues to conjure up new routines to challenge and tone my body. Contrary to prior experiences with exercise regimens, I have never felt Shirley's work-out routines are repetitive or boring in any way. Shirley is an excellent personal trainer. Though I have several old injuries and was preparing for a total knee replacement, Shirley was always able to push me to have a challenging work-out. Shirley's extensive training as a Physical Therapist and exercise expert allows her to have many choices of how to address and strengthen all parts of the body with out causing me any further injury. She is the perfect combination of good natured cheerleader and professionalism, keeping me motivated and on track. Our sessions were outside under a beautiful oak tree, which added to fun of my workout. I can't wait for my knee to recover, so that I can attend her group classes. They look like so much fun! - AT
Get Core has improved my performance in my sport (cycling) tremendously. I am a U 18 road, mountain, and track cyclist who completes on the local, national, and international levels. While most of my training is on the bike, cross training is still a very important part of staying strong and getting faster. For the type of racer I am, I need to have a very strong core and upper body to maintain stability on the bike and put out a lot of power in sprints. Get Core has helped tremendously with strengthening my core and upper body. I feel better and smoother on the bike and my racing has greatly improved because of it. From TRX to weight training, I now incorporate many of the amazing services Get Core offers into my weekly training program. Going into my 2017 season, I have the goal of taking one of the two spots on the US junior national team in track cycling. And as of December, I have been invited to a talent ID camp for the track national team that is also a part of the selection process for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Whether I make the team or not, this is a journey that Get Core will be joining me on.
